The Farm
Our 20-stall facility is meticulously designed for efficient and high-quality care for the horses residing at Cottonwood. We maintain a comfortable temperature throughout Vermont's coldest winter days, ensuring our horses are cozy and have access to liquid water. Our stable is equipped with both hot and cold water in the indoor wash stall and a private bathroom within our heated tack room for your convenience.
We all know the goal is safe, happy and healthy horses. That is precisely why we decided on individual dry lot turnout at Cottonwood. While most feel grass pasture is the best option, we have had the best luck avoiding sickness and injury with our turnout set up.
Horses *NEED* movement, forage and socialization.
Horses at our facility get all of those things.
We are able to provide them a consistency of nutrition, routine and management that eliminates the "my horse colics every spring and fall" narrative. That's simply not acceptable and it really is not normal. We offer hay every 2 hours throughout the day and feed plenty at their last night check, so horses still have hay to be munching on but not waste when they are given their morning beet pulp and grain.
All hay we feed is homegrown and tested and further paired with a Poulin grain that compliments it best to ensure horses nutrient requirements are met.
We will feed up to 6lbs of grain per day, although we rarely have to feed that much with the quality of our hay.
Which means less health issues for you!

The Family
Drawing on years of accumulated knowledge, we recognize that a comfortable, secure, and consistent environment is crucial for your horse's well-being. Cottonwood stands out as one of the few facilities where the staff intimately understands each horse under their care. This deep connection is largely thanks to the daily dedication of our three-person team to your animals, and we cherish this approach.
Our team is comprised of three family members. Jeff and his daughter Emily, along with Emily's husband Patrick, who also runs his own concrete company, work together. Jeff and Patrick take care of the morning tasks, whereas Jeff and Emily are responsible for the afternoon duties, including the midday and evening checks for replenishing hay and water. They also manage any necessary turnout changes during the day. For additional details about our daily operations, please feel free to ask!
