-Horses prefer ad do best health/weight wise if they are cool/ cofortable, not warm.
With our barn being so warm in the winter, please keep in mind, horses that are too warm tend to stress out and not eat very well. We feed horses all they hay they will eat, if they start to trash their hay we will let you know they are most likely too warm and we will but back on their hay.
If you feel the need to put a blanket on your horse and you do not plan to clip them, a sheet is more then enough for in the barn and during turnout (please keep in mind horses are only out for a few hours temperature and weather permitting during the winter months)
If you do plan to clip your horse, a medium weight is the heaviest your horse will need for in the stable and turnout. Depending on the horse, sometimes a sheet is plenty for in the stable or turnout.
*Heavy weight blankets are typically not necessary for in the stable or turnout*
